Adult Classes

Never sailed? No problem. Learn how to sail a small dinghy in a fun, safe environment. Then build your skills for bigger sailing adventures in our Intermediate and Advanced Classes. Meet new friends, make sailing connections, and learn skills that will keep you sailing for the rest of your life.

Beginner

Classroom learning plus hands-on experience will have you comfortable sailing in no time.

Intermediate

Master more techniques in a club-owned boat, or sail your own boat with help from our instructors.

Youth Classes

HSC boasts one of the longest running and most successful Learn to Sail Programs. Each summer, we teach approximately 350 campers (ages 8-17) the sport of sailing. A variety of programs are available to fit your camper’s needs, from beginning to adventure sailing to competitive racing!

  • Water Safety: Students build confidence and awareness on and near the water.
  • Teamwork: Sailing encourages individuals to work together.
  • Communication skills: Necessary life skill practiced daily for the safety of the group.
  • No Limitations: Sailing is accessible to all ages, skill levels and abilities.

About the Program

Sailing is a great activity and sport for all ages. For over 40 years, the US Sailing certified instructors at the Hoover Sailing Club Sailing School have been teaching children and adults how to sail. We offer an array of classes and racing teams designed specifically for different ages and levels of experience. Our courses provide the opportunity for kids and adults to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy the sport of sailing.

Hoover Sailing Club features everything to support a sailing program, its assets and its students. The club hosts a well-maintained fleet of twenty-four 420s, twelve FJs, eighteen Optimists, four Lasers, ten Windsurfers, six Interlakes, two Flying Scots, ten paddleboards, four kayaks, a Thistle, a Windmill, an International 14, plus numerous support boats to make up one of the top sailing school facilities in the region.
